Harriet’s POV

“Tonight, I will sleep with any he-wolf who can catch my attention.’

** **

As I stepped into the rowdy bar, I took a quick scan of the scene. Packs of werewolves, some with their mates and some without, were enjoying themselves. Amidst the chaos, my attention was drawn to a man sitting in the corner.

He held a glass of bourbon in his hand, and I couldn't help but be captivated by his striking features. His tousled waves of dark brown hair perfectly framed his strong jawline and thick eyebrows. The dim lighting in the bar accentuated his tanned skin, adding an air of mystery and allure to his presence.

After a while, our eyes met and locked. My heart raced with anticipation as I nervously made my way towards him. When I finally reached his table, I cleared my throat and asked, "So, which Pack do you belong to? And what's your role within the Pack? Do you happen to have a mate?"

The guy set down his glass of bourbon on the table and gave me a thorough once-over, like he was examining every little thing about me.

"I'm a rogue. A lone wolf without a Pack," he stated, propping his chin up with his hand. "As for the third question, I'd rather not respond."

A wolf with no Pack, and don’t want to tell me if he has a mate or not. Perhaps, he’s the best choice.

“Sleep with me tonight. I will pay you after,” I offered.

The mischievous grin on his face turned into serious. He narrowed his eyes on me as he replied, "Miss, do you realize that you're asking a complete stranger, a rogue in fact, to sleep with you?"

My cheeks turned red, but I tried my best to hide my nervousness. "I know," I muttered.

His eyes, a deep shade of crimson, studied me. Maybe he thought I was some kind of strange woman who was offering him money to sleep with me.

I felt so embarrassed, but I couldn't back down now. "Tell me the price," I negotiated.

He warned me, "You'll regret this, Miss. Don't you have a mate? He might not be happy to find out you're asking just anyone to sleep with you." His red eyes sharpened as he asked the question.

I clenched my fists upon hearing that. I replied, "Having a mate or not doesn't matter. It's useless to me. Well, if you're not interested, just say so. I don't want to waste my time," I snapped, rolling my eyes.

The man stayed silent for what felt like forever, and my patience started to wear thin. I had more important things to do than wait around for someone who couldn't make up their mind.

Assuming I had been rejected, I sighed and said, “Fine. I will just find someone else.” I turned around, ready to leave. However, just as she was about to take another step, the man firmly grasped my wrist and pulled me away from the bar.

Without words, he guided me toward a nearby hotel. “You’re taking me to a hotel?” I asked, trembling.

"Why? Would you rather do it right here in the bar?" he sneered, taking out his wallet. "Strip down and make a scene for everyone to enjoy?"

My face flushed with embarrassment at his vulgar words.

"If you'd prefer my car, I'm up for it. Tight spaces can be quite exhilarating," he suggested.

In a car? No way!

“No!” I declined. “Just b-book a room. Do it fast!” I demanded.

Suddenly, he laughed with a deep rough voice. I blinked, feeling drawn to his husky tone.

"What's so amusing?" I inquired.

He responded, "The last word you uttered, sweetheart. It amused me."

"Booking?” I repeated, elongating my words.

He shook his head, a mischievous smile forming at the corners of his mouth. "Nope. It was the word ‘Fast’ that made me chuckle."
