I appear stuck between life and death, I believe. No, perhaps I am already dead. But, dang it, I died a virgin. I blame Wes for this. He kept all the boys away, and I never got a possibility to have sex. Okay, seriously, now. Why does heaven have that incessant beeping sound? I move my fingers—Alrighty then, not dead; I can move. I try to open my eyes. They flutter because the light is so brilliant. It takes a few tries, but they finally open. I'm gazing at a tile ceiling; pretty sure they don't have those in heaven. I glance to my right and see the reason for the beeping. A Nurse on A Stick, I'm in a hospital, so I did not die a virgin. I vow to start my bucket list as soon as I leave.
I look to my right and see Tana. She is sleeping with her head by my hand. I raise my hand and set it on her head. She flinches awake.
"You're up," She says, rubbing sleep from her eyes.
I try to speak, but my mouth is too dry. I reach toward the bedside table for the cup. Tana grasps a straw for the cup and brings it to my lips. I drink like I have been stranded in the Sierra for a week. Once I have finished, Tana places the cup back down.
"Where are we?" I ask.
"Back at your pack." She states.
"What happened? I wonder aloud.
"You don't remember?" She queries. "That is expected, considering what you went through. Let me contact Wes and the Doctor. Before you ask, your family and his forced him home to shower and eat. He refused to leave your side. He was getting pretty ripe. So they informed him you wouldn't like to see him that way. Okay, done texting him. So I gather we have five minutes max."
The doctor arrives and starts to check me over. "How do you feel, Luna?"
"Like I have been run over by a Mack Truck." I labor to say. "Every muscle and bone in my body feels like it has been ripped apart."
"Well, that is quite close to what happened." He chuckles. "I notified Alpha, Luna, and your family. I'm sure they will be here soon, and then we can discuss how you are healing."
I don't even get an opportunity to react before the door slams open. Wes comes charging in.
"Rain, you're awake. I wanted to be here when you woke, but everyone told me to shower, eat, and return. I'm so sorry I wasn't here when you woke up. But, my Luna, what do you need? Are you sore? Can I get you anything?"
I look at him and express one word. "Mate" There is only one reason I would utilize that word. And that is because I obtained my wolf. How did I get my wolf? I need help thinking because Wes is currently yapping.
"Wes, I need you to shut up," I grit out. "I got my wolf? How did I get my wolf?" That is when I hear her. 'Hello, Raina Holt. It is a pleasure to meet you finally." I am honored to be designated as your wolf. We will do extraordinary things for the world.'
"What is your name?" I ask her. "Morrigan," she answers.
"Morrigan, that is a lovely name. If I recall correctly, that is the Irish word for 'Great Queen.' She is also the Goddess of War, and many consider her evil. However, she enabled Tuatha de Danann to win many battles. She is also associated with death. Which is associated with darkness; however, death is just a natural part of the life cycle."
'That is correct, Rain. We will face many struggles, so I must be created from a fearless leader.' She responds. "Now, enough of that. Our mate is yummy. Let's talk to him about this relationship's mating and marking part."
Wes looks at me dumbfounded. "Did you just tell me to shut up?"
"Why yes, I did," I replied.
"And yes, you are my mate. Zephyr is going crazy. If he could do backflips, he would." Wes laughs. "Rain, I am so happy you are okay. Alpha Boone didn't harm you, did he? I'm kinda pissed you destroyed him before I could."
I gape at him. Did I kill somebody? 'No Rain, I killed somebody. He would kill our loved ones, and I wouldn't allow that to happen.' Morrigan justifies. I recall now. I gave him a choice, and he laughed at me.
At about that moment, I hear my mom reprimand Wes. "Wes, she only woke up. She may not recall that piece. Simply provide her a moment to get her bearings."
Wes looks like he has lost his puppy right now. I clutch his hand. "It's okay, and mom Morrigan just covered it with me. I recall. I gave him a choice, and he selected death."
My mom embraces me, and my dad kisses my head, "That's my girl. Don't feel bad."
"Kiddo, he made a choice."
I see Tana hanging at the room's rear, and it reminds me he has additional girls. "We have to go to his pack. He holds other girls. We have to rescue them." I urge. "Tana wasn't the only girl. Has her family been contacted?" Are they here or on their way."
"They are out of the country right now. Girls were missing from across the pond, too. They believed they could locate me there. They will be here in a few days." She states.
