CHAPTER ONE
COLLIN’S POV
I was going to kill somebody. And No. Not through the quick way of a bullet to the heart. No. The rage burning inside me wanted to tear them limb after limb until they were no more.
The sight unfolding right before my gaze was not just heartbreaking but unbelievable. She-they could not have possibly done that to me and yet here I was, staring right into the most gut-wrenching sight of my life. Never in my entire existence, had I ever thought I would be seeing something like that. Inside me, my wolf was growing uncontrollably with rage.
“Get the fuck off her!” I growled, getting their attention.
“Collins, “Laila’s voice was trembling as she clutched the cream bed sheet over her naked body, eyes wide with a mixture of terror, guilt and shock of being caught. The six feet nudeness of the man beside her wasn’t fazed at all.
I was angry. No. I was raging and if one more word came out of her lips, I was going to lose the last shreds of control I had left in my body. My wolf was not just agitated, he was literally trying to take over my senses, screaming for blood. If I stayed here one more minute, I would lose my senses and succumb to the groveling need to tear both of them apart, limb after limb while their screams filled the air. The thought was tempting but I was a fucking Alpha. If I lost it like this, then how was I a better man than my father? I had to get out fast. After making the decision, I stepped out, blindly walking away from Brad’s apartment while barely feeling my feet touch the ground. I barely heard the other members of my pack acknowledging my presence as I walked past them. All I could do was try to make sense of what I had just witnessed but none of it fit in. It all felt like it was just another bad dream that I would wake from soon.
“Are you okay, Collins?” It was Daniel’s tap on my shoulder that brought me to a dazed halt. Concerned creased his eyes, “Dude,”
“I’m fine, Danny,” I growled, brushing past him while making my way to the venting room. I was nothing close to being fine.
The moment I was inside and the heavy lead doors were securely closed, I got rid of my clothes, placing them in a safe place before I let my wolf take over. Dark fur spread over my legs, quickly spreading to my entire body, bones rearranging loudly and a bit painfully as a loud agitated growl left my body. Frustration and anger raced through me as I ran around the room, hitting myself against the wall with force. The physical pain was way better off than the pain in my chest. She was my wife; my fucking mate. Mine. and he had the audacity to even bat an eyelid towards her, not to mention he screwed her right under my nose. The image of her under him, moaning as he drove into her, flashed in my mind and on impulse, I ran towards the door, hitting it with all of my might. I wanted to kill him, while I was making her watch. Then I would kill her too and I would not regret it. Worst part? I’d stood there for approximately ten seconds before they realized I was in the room with them. How could she not recognise her mate’s scent? Or even the presence of another person in the room? Had she really been that consumed by him?
I gave her my fucking heart; my life and this was how she repaid me? I was faithful to her and I fought to keep her by my side even though my parents never approved of her in the first place. I had a fallout with my family because even though she was my mate by nature’s choosing, I had met her when she worked as a rich man’s escort. Still, none of that ever mattered to me because I strongly believed that she was my destiny and meant to own my heart. She had me locked in on her from the first moment I met her.
It must have been hours of venting, punished by memories of us and trying to claw my way out, before I finally passed out on the cold floor as I shifted back to my human form, a bit less angry now. When I came to, I pulled my clothes on before pulling the latch on the door. Much to my utter annoyance, the moment I stepped out she was sitting outside despite it being already in the dead of the night. Of course she knew I would be here.
“Collins,” She muttered as she scrambled after me.
“Don’t you dare talk to me Laila,” I snapped as I began walking away but she clearly didn’t get the hint as she followed me.
“I know you are very angry and you have every right to-“I turned around abruptly, almost hitting her lithe body in the process.
