ALPHA RENARD'S POV:-
After hearing the most devastating news again from Beta Shane in the pack, I made my way to the bedroom as fast as I could.
"What is happening?" I asked out loudly once I stepped into my bedroom.
Camilla, my wife, was lying on the bed. The Alpha healer of my pack, healer Deniece, was wrapping everything up. She walked towards me with the same disappointed look on her face that I started to hate. "Forgive me, Alpha. But Luna has miscarried the baby yet again."
I was clenching my fists as tightly as possible. And was gritting my teeth out of anger.
Camilla was already asleep, it was useless to sit by her side and try to console her. That's why, I decided to walk with the healer. It was our eighth miscarriage. It started to feel like we were never going to have a baby. "What happened this time? You were positive this time with the results. You said for sure that this time, our baby will survive." I asked the healer as calmly as possible.
I was not accusing her of anything at all. I just wanted to know what went wrong again. This time, I didn't even let Camilla go to the bathroom alone. She always had maids inside the room to help her with the simplest of chores like picking up clothes for the day and even getting the glass of water from the bedside table.
For five fucking months, I didn't disturb her to make sure the baby would live this time. Yet again, I was devastated with that same news tore me apart. "I can't say for sure what actually went wrong, Alpha. The baby was healthy yesterday. I checked Luna before she went to bed last night. Everything was perfectly fine." The healer informed me in a low tone.
I couldn't do anything at all. I could only clench my fists and grit my teeth as always for losing my baby again. "I don't understand what is wrong with her. Why can't she bear my babies? Or is there something wrong with my sperm?" I asked the healer in a disappointed tone.
I stopped being aggressive out of anger a long time ago. There was no use. I only wasted my energy and the things that I bought for my home. The healer placed her hand on my hand and shook her head ever so slowly.
"Alpha, Your sperm is very healthy. After all the tests we ran last year, we know for sure that there is nothing wrong with your sperm." The healer informed me in a mere whisper. She was trying to keep it down but then again, walls couldn't stop rumours from spreading if the people living inside were actually werewolves.
I looked at her with a confused look on my face. "My father used to say, not every woman can be lucky enough to carry an Alpha's child. Maybe, this isn't just for Luna. After all, you married a woman who isn't your mate." The healer added in a low tone as she saw the visible confusion on my face.
As soon as I heard her, I narrowed my head and clenched my fists tightly. "Being with mates can only make you a coward and useless. I don't want to be a useless man. I want to protect my pack." I replied to the healer in a low tone. I didn't want to yell at her. She was only stating the truth. I was well aware of the fact that an Alpha's baby couldn't be conceived by any ordinary woman.
The healer narrowed her head and shook it disappointedly. She was hearing that same reason from me for the eighth time. "If that's the case, then we have no hope in the future as well. You shouldn’t try to have another child with the Luna ." The healer added in a low tone.
She was just stating the fact. But it was the only thing that hurt me more than the day I lost my whole family. "There must be a way. I became the Alpha when my father was murdered. But according to the pack's laws, I need a child to become the Alpha." I asked the healer in a low tone, trying to keep the flames of hope alive in my chest.
The healer thought about the question for a moment. "That is no way, Alpha." The healer added in a low tone and I narrowed my eyes.
I felt like burning the whole world down at that moment as the last flame of hope was about to be extinguished inside my chest. "Unless…" Healer added in a low tone and my eyes snapped towards her face.
