*"That man is an asshole, he never treated me well. He hit me and just got drunk. I accidentally killed him, please help me.”
Diana could only sigh. This was no easy case. Diana's client this time was a wife who killed her husband because of domestic violence.
On the one hand Diana felt sorry to hear her life story, but on the other hand she couldn't help anything, because she was only a interpreter. All decisions are in the hands of the judge.
*"We will try to provide the best solution.” That was all Diana could confirm.
Then her client was taken away by the custody guard.
Huft, this was one of the hardest days for her while working as a interpreter at the courthouse. Besides, she felt unwell since morning. Unfortunately, her phone died just as she was about to order a taxi to go home since she didn't bring a car today.
Diana used her blazer to run through the rain. She had to get home before it was past curfew at home.
So when a taxi pulled up in front of her, she quickly got in.
The taxi door was immediately locked which left Diana confused.
She looked at the taxi driver in the rearview mirror to protest but saw someone else behind her instead.
Suddenly, a cold thing touched Diana's neck. That's when she realized it was a knife and she was in danger.
Diana tried to see the faces of the driver and someone else behind her, but she couldn't recognize them because they were wearing masks.
“Don't try to rebel or this knife will pierce your neck,” the kidnapper threatened.
Diana held her breath, her hands shaking with fear.
The taxi started moving, taking Diana away from the office area.
Diana held her phone tightly. She didn't know if there was someone who would save her.
“I'll call Alpha Darren. Your life depends on the decision he makes.” The kidnapper laughed with satisfaction next to Diana's ear.
It surprised Diana to no end because no one knew that her husband was Alpha Darren, the leader of Pack Kyne, because she was the hidden Luna, the one the public had been looking for all this time.
A call was connected. The kidnapper put his phone in front of Diana's eyes so that she finally knew that the kidnapper was really dialing Alpha Darren's number.
The call was finally picked up.
[Who?] asked Alpha Darren in his cold, stern voice.
Diana could only stare at the phone screen while hoping in her heart that Alpha Darren would agree to whatever the kidnapper asked. Honestly, Diana was scared that they would kill her. Diana didn't want to die yet because there was still someone who needed her.
The kidnapper laughed and increased the volume of the call. “I am with your wife now, Diana Genevieve. She's in front of me and frightened as hell.”
In fact, Alpha Darren's response was not what Diana expected. Diana thought Alpha Darren would be very worried but instead he laughed.
[You're with my wife? Do you even know who my wife is? The whole country doesn't even know who she is. Stop making stupid calls or you will be arrested and put in jail.]
The disconnected call made Diana's breath catch. She shook her head and covered both ears in frustration.
“What the hell! Speak clearly, get to the point you idiot! We have to get the money!” The fake taxi driver snapped at the man who had a knife pointed at Diana's neck.
Diana held her breath as the knife accidentally hit her ear and cut a few strands of her hair when the man pulled his hand to contact Alpha Darren again.
“I'll try again.” The man contacted Alpha Darren again.
A few seconds passed, and the call was finally picked up. Diana could breathe a little as there was still hope for her to be saved.
“I'm not messing with my words. If your wife can talk, then I'll tell her to talk right now.” The kidnapper laughed like crazy again.
Diana closed her eyes as the knife was again aimed at her neck. She wasn't afraid of death, but she was afraid of leaving the people she loved.
Diana's tears finally fell.
